Out and about in October

North Brisbane Small Business Expo 5 October

With around 600 attendees (pictured left) and over 150 exhibitors, the expo was a great way to connect with small businesses from all over North Brisbane. It was amazing to see the passion and hard work that goes into running such a diverse range of businesses.

BizLink Townsville 17 October

A huge thank you to our regulators Townsville Chamber of Commerce, Australian Securities and Investments Commission, Australian Taxation Office, Work Safe Queensland, WorkCover Queensland, Fair Work, Townsville City Council, Austrade and ecoBiz for taking the time to answer the questions of Townsville small businesses.

9 to Thrive 1920 October

Hosted by Business Chicks, this two–day event (DESBT staff pictured left) saw women in business engaging with each other from all over the country. With a fantastic line-up of guest speakers and exhibitors, the day was full of celebration and encouragement for women in business.

Community Recovery Forum

The third annual Community Recovery Forum (pictured right) focussed on communities not just surviving but thriving. Representing business resilience, economic recovery and the importance of building strong small business sector for our Queensland communities.

Indigenous Business Month

On Thursday night we celebrated National Indigenous Business Month at South Bank, hosted by Minister for Training and Skills Development, the Honourable Shannon Fentiman. A great event that showcased and recognised the valuable contribution Indigenous businesses make to communities across Queensland. The evening featured a keynote address from Sharine Milne, one of our 100 Faces of Small Business and a beautiful performance from Indigenous artist Emily Wurrumarra (pictured left).
