Indigenous Business Month 2024 promotional kit banner - Making our mark

PROMOTIONAL KIT

Indigenous Business Month is a nation-wide event held from 1–31 October each year, showcasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business leadership across Australia.

This year, the theme is Making our Mark. In its 10th year, IBM2024 marks a decade of demonstrating the impact of Indigenous businesses and calls on everyone to reflect on the achievements of the Indigenous business sector.

The Queensland Government recognises the importance of economic prosperity for all Queenslanders and supports IBM as an opportunity to shine a light on Indigenous businesses across Queensland.

This October we are celebrating the growing ranks of successful Indigenous businesses across Queensland. Through collaborative partnerships with Indigenous businesses and industry stakeholders, Queensland continues to drive the growth of the sector and demand for goods and services from First Nations peoples.

Acknowledgment of Country

We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of this land, their ancestors and their legacy. The foundations laid by the ancestors—First Nations Peoples—give strength, inspiration and courage to current and future generations to create a better Queensland.

We recognise it is our collective efforts and responsibility as individuals, communities and governments to ensure equity, recognition and advancement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders across all aspects of society and everyday life.

We are committed to working with, representing, advocating for and promoting the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders with unwavering determination, passion and persistence.

As we reflect on the past and hope for the future, we walk together on a shared journey and vision of reconciliation where all Queenslanders are equal and the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and communities across Queensland is recognised, respected and valued by all Queenslanders.

Note for Queensland Government agencies – Caretaker arrangements

From Tuesday 1 October 2024, the Queensland Government will assume caretaker mode. This will continue until results from the 26 October 2024 election are clear.

Supporting and celebrating Indigenous businesses

Indigenous Business Month 2024 shines a light on the growing number of successful Indigenous businesses across Australia.

The Queensland Government supports Indigenous Business Month and recognises the power of First Nations people’s contribution to Queensland’s economy, showcasing the powerhouse businesses employing, creating, innovating and getting on with business across the state.
