Queensland Small Business Month 2023

As a valued stakeholder or partner, you can use the key messages and resources in this kit to help us celebrate Queensland Small Business Month (QSBM) 2023 and get the message out to as many small businesses as possible about all the events and activities happening this May.

You can also get involved in the #loveyoursmallbusiness social campaign.

Here are some ways you can help us get the QSBM2023 message out:
  • Use the social media content below to spread the word on your social media during May and tag #QSBM2023 #loveyoursmallbusiness.

  • Share the resources with the small businesses and industry you work with and encourage them to promote QSBM2023 and to attend an event.

  • Support your local small businesses by purchasing products or services from them in May. You can even take a selfie with them and share it on social media using the hashtags #QSBM2023 #loveyoursmallbusiness. Don’t forget to tag @businessqldgov and the small business (if they have an account) and remember to make your post public.

  • Give a local small business a 5-star rating online and tell your friends and colleagues.

  • Use the key messages and resources below to help promote your event in the lead up to and during QSBM2023 in May.

Key messages
  • Queensland Small Business Month runs from 1 to 31 May 2023.
  • In 2023 Queensland Small Business Month has a ‘love your local’ theme and highlights the importance of the 493,000 small businesses that account for 97 per cent of all businesses in Queensland.
  • More than 80 business support events are planned throughout May across Queensland to mark the sector’s vital contribution to our economy, to our communities and to our daily lives.
  • Queensland Small Business Month will see events held from the Northern Peninsula Area to the Southern Gold Coast and include “Do it in Douglas” in Port Douglas; ‘Toes in the Grass’ in Moreton Bay; “Custard Apple Muster Day” in Bundaberg; and “Speed dating for employers and employees” in Mount Tamborine.
  • This year’s Queensland Small Business Month events continue to tackle the big and important issues for small business owners across the state like cyber security, talent retention, growth and financial literacy.
  • Queensland Small Business Month events help small business owners connect with local resources and networks, which can make all the difference when it comes to finding support and growing a business.
  • In addition to the face-to-face events, this year QSBMonline is providing easy access to online sessions. Small business owners can learn about topics such as social media and digital marketing, workforce planning and management, and innovation to grow a business.
  • Queensland Small Business Month is the ideal time to network and build long term connections to “Love your Local” small businesses.
