Enabling a thriving small business sector in Queensland

The Queensland Small Business Champion chairs the Better Regulation Taskforce (BRT), a sub-committee of the Queensland Small Business Advisory Council established to provide advice to government on improving regulation to support small business, and create a strong, profitable and globally competitive business environment.

The BRT is overseeing the implementation of recommendations made by its predecessor, the Red Tape Reduction Advisory Council (RTRAC), and ensuring all of the RTRAC’s ideas come to fruition for the benefit of small business.

The BRT is currently investigating specific challenges affecting small businesses in the eco-tourism, live music and entertainment, and technology start-up sectors. The BRT’s report outlining the findings and recommendations of the review has been provided to Minister Enoch, and will ultimately be presented to the Queensland Government for consideration and response. As Chair of the BRT, the Queensland Small Business Champion has published a BRT progress update, and response to the latest Red Tape Survey by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland.
