Maree Adshead, Queensland Small Business Champion

Welcome to the Queensland Small Business Champion update

As Small Business Champion, I am committed to making our state an even better place for small business to start, grow and employ under the Advancing Small Business Queensland Strategy 2016-20.

The Small Business Champion is an advocacy role; a conduit between the more than 414,000 small businesses in Queensland and all levels of government. While I might not be able to fix every challenge facing small business, I can help ensure the messages are heard by the right people, build bridges where they are needed, and generate greater awareness and understanding of the realities of running a small business.

Since commencing as Small Business Champion, I have had more than 90 opportunities to engage with the small business community at roundtables, meetings, industry discussions and other events. The conversations are always enlightening and constructive, offering insight into the issues affecting small business in Queensland. You’ll find articles covering some of these issues in the update below, and some more about what I’ve been up to as Small Business Champion.

I encourage all Queensland small business owners and operators to engage with me via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and email – your thoughts, comments and questions are always welcome.
